Dear Panel,
I'm going into my freshman year at college,
and my boyfriend and I have been dating seriously for
over 2 years. We were best friends for god knows how
long before that.
We'll Be 40 Miles Apart
The problem is, I don't know what to do
about the relationship now that we're going into college.
He's going to a big college and I'm going to a smaller
one, and they are about 40 miles apart, yet they might
as well be worlds apart (big city vs. suburbs).
Our Friends Say It Won't Work
The two of us want to stay together, but
both families and our older friends who are in college
already want us to either breakup or be non-exclusive
towards each other. They said relationships like ours
"never works."
Now I'm Having Doubts
Now I'm having doubts where I didn't before,
but my boyfriend is steadfast about staying together.
I don't know what to do, and I'm totally
confused. What are the options, and how do I know which
is best for me and my relationship with him?
